Your statement is an opportunity for us to learn about you as a scientist and as a person. It may be helpful for you to address some of the following questions:

Supplemental Essay for MA applicants:
How does the mission of the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development resonate with your interest in the program and your career?

The Mission Statement is: The Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development is an inclusive and interdisciplinary community dedicated to (1) integrating strengths-based theory, research, and practice to enhance the well-being of children, youth, families, and communities through systems change; (2) adopting learner-centered teaching and applied research; and (3) striving to inspire, educate and hold accountable ourselves and others to become active citizens, practitioners, scholars and change makers, in order to (4) promote an accessible, equitable, and just world. In 500 words or less, write about the first theme and at least one other.

Personal Statement:
 This statement should include your reasons for wanting to pursue graduate study at Tufts and within the Department of Mathematics. Discuss what makes mathematics exciting to you. In addition, please include a description of a math problem or topic that challenged you early in your undergraduate experience. Discuss how you, perhaps with the help of others, overcame those difficulties to understand the problem better and how you presently understand it. Do not be afraid to choose something from a "basic" class like calculus. Your application materials already speak to your achievements; here instead we are interested in hearing about how you have developed your interest in mathematics. Please limit your statement to 750 words or fewer.

Museum Education (MA):Open to applicants within two years of graduating from Tufts.

Music (MA)
: Open to applicants within two years of graduating from Tufts. Eligible students must have a 3.25 GPA or better in their major.

Urban & Environmental Policy & Planning (MA): Open to applicants within two years of graduating from Tufts. Qualified applicants must have strong recommendations, a strong commitment to community and public engagement, and relevant work experience either during or subsequent to college.
